Green Procurement Program

On April 23, 2002, the Board of Supervisors adopted the "Green Procurement and Sustainable Practices Policy" (downloadable below) "to purchase recycled content products and engage in sustainable practices."

Of special interest to businesses is this part of of the policy: "Require waste prevention, recycling, market development and use of recycled/recyclable materials through lease agreements, contractual relationships and purchasing practices with vendors, contractors, businesses, and other public and governmental agencies."

Businesses who deal in recycled products, or who provide environmentally-friendly services, are advised and encouraged to download and read the Policy. The Policy includes (on page 4) a list of specific recycled products that the County will be looking for.

Interested businesses should contact the County Purchasing Department for more information.
