Benefit Information










The County of Nevada provides a full medical, dental and vision package for Regular classified employees. Costs vary depending on negotiated County contributions and the plan selected.

INCLUDED BENEFITS:

Medical Insurance
Medical Insurance is provided to employees and dependents through the California Public Employees Retirement System. Employees may choose from several Health Plans. For specific plan information, call CalPERS at (888) 225-7377 or visit the CalPERS Website.

Dental Insurance
Dental Insurance is administered through BRMS. Coverage is provided with no deductible at the following levels for employees & dependents:
    Preventative - 100%
    Basic - 80%
    Major - 50%.

Vision Insurance
Vision Insurance is administered through Vision Service Plan. Coverage is provided for one exam every twelve months, contacts every twelve months, or lenses every twelve months and frames every twenty-four months.

Life Insurance
The County of Nevada provides Life Insurance through Fortis Benefits of $10,000 employee life insurance, and $1,000 for each dependent, at no cost to the employee. Supplemental Life Insurance is available at employee cost.

Retirement
The County of Nevada is a member of the Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS). Benefits are provided at 2.7% @ 55 (3% @ 50 for Safety Employees). Non-Safety employees share in the cost of the benefit. For information: (888) 225-7377 or at the CalPERS Website.

Employee Assistance Program
The County of Nevada provides an Employee Assistance Program at no cost to the employee. Included are up to 3 sessions per family member per incident, and includes Clinical Counseling, Financial Consultations, Pre-Retirement Counseling, Child Care Consultations, Elder Care Consultations, Federal Taxpayer Consultation and Representation, and Legal Counseling. BENEFITS AVAILABLE AT EMPLOYEE COST:

Deferred Compensation
Employees may elect to participate in the County's Deferred Compensation 457 Plans. The County utilizes the following Deferred Compensation Providers:

  • CalPERS Deferred Compensation Plan: (800) 260-0659 www.calpers.ca.gov

    Long Term Care
    Employees may elect to participate in the CalPERS Long Term Care Program, which provides for extended care for employees or their family members (spouses, parents and parents-in-law) due to a serious accident, chronic illness, or the frailties of old age.

    Dependent Care
    Employees may elect to have dependent care expenses deducted from their paycheck on a pre-tax basis, up to $8,000 per year.

    Automobile & Homeowners Insurance
    Employees may elect to purchase personal insurance through Liberty Mutual Insurance through payroll deduction.
