Most programs are limited to adults with serious mental illnesses or children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances. Programs for such persons cover a continuum of care from acute inpatient to routine outpatient care and include long term institutional care, residential services, day treatment, care management and vocational services. Acute and longterm inpatient services are all provided by contracted entities located outside Nevada County.

For persons eligible for Medi-Cal (Medicaid), the division also provides authorization and management of mental health care.
