PLEASE NOTE: In spring 2007, the Department of Transportation & Sanitation was split into two departments -- Public Works and Sanitation -- and placed within the Community Development Agency. Notice to all architects, contractors, engineers and owner/builders:
Effective January 3 2006, five complete sets of building plans (structural) and five site plans will be required at time of submission of application for any residential building project.
Six complete sets of building plans (structural) will be required for commercial building projects.

This office enforces food and agriculture regulations as well as weights & measures.
- Building
Doing construction? You'll get your building permits and arrange for inspections here.
- Planning
The Planning Department develops and applies land use policies. Code Compliance is also now a division of the Planning Department.
- Environmental Health
EH implements a wide range of laws affecting public health, including water, sewage, fuel storage tanks and food-related businesses.
- Housing
The Housing Division is responsible for promoting affordable housing programs and projects, as well as economic development, largely through receipt of competitive grant funds.
- Public Works
This new department incorporates Roads, Fleet and Transit Services.
- Sanitation
This new department incorporates Solid Waste (including recycling) and Wastewater. Nevada County Community Development Agency
