In January 2006, the Adult & Family Services Department changed its name to the Department of Social Services. Some content and linked documents on this site may still reflect the old name.

The Department of Social Services, as part of the Human Services Agency, exists to offer vital human services to the citizens of Nevada County, including:

Services which protect and support families, adults, seniors and persons with disabilities;
Services which empower heads of families and other job-seekers to secure and retain employment;
Services, which prevent and/or reduce risk of negative outcomes for families, improving the quality of life for those families and the community as a whole.

DSS Housing-Related Services These services were formerly provided by the Housing & Community Services Department.

DSS Services The Department of Social Services provides the community at large a vital resource of assistance in many areas:

DSS Truckee Services Services available to eastern County residents.

Electronic Benefits Transfer The Department of Social Services is now participating in the California Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) program.

In-Home Supportive Services IHSS provides assistance to eligible aged, blind and disabled individuals to live safely in their own homes.

Senior Outreach Designed to serve the senior population (60 years or older) of Nevada County.
