The Animal Shelter hours are Monday - Saturday 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Mission Statement- To protect the public from annoyance, intimidation, irritation, property damage, and injury from animals.
- To protect animals from improper use, abuse, neglect, and inhumane treatment by mankind.
Services to CitizensSome of the duties that address these two responsibilities are: - Spay & neuter program
- Impounding stray animals or owned animals running at large
- Investigation of nuisance complaints, for example: vicious dogs
- Investigating animal bites and performing animal quarantines
- Dispatching rabies infected animals
- Sending samples of rabies suspect animals to a lab for testing
- Enforcement of dog licensing and rabies vaccination laws
- Maintaining a Dog Licensing Program
- Providing an annual low cost rabies vaccination clinic
- Issuing warnings and citations for violation of local and state animal control law
- Filing complaints with the District Attorney for misdemeanor and felony violations
- Accepting stray animals from the public
- Accepting owner surrendered animals

- Redeeming impounded animals to owners
- Maintaining a lost animal log
- Maintaining a found animal log
- Maintaining an animal want list
- Providing referral information to other agencies and groups involved with animals
- Acting as a liaison to the press regarding animal related matters
- Providing educational programs
- Coordinating volunteer program
