The Nevada County Public Health Department is carefully monitoring the Novel Influenza A (H1N1) virus (Swine Flu) outbreak within California and the US.  For the most recent information you may call the California Department of Public Health - HOTLINE at 1-888-865-0564, Monday through Friday, 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. or you may log onto the California Department of Public Health website: http://www.cdph.ca.gov/h1n1flu/

To protect yourself from getting sick:
  • Cover nose and mouth with tissue when cough or sneeze
  • Wash hands often with soap and water
  • Alcohol based hand cleaners are also effective
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth
  • Avoid close contact with sick people
  • Stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone
